Last Minute Christmas Dinner Tips

tip

If you are planning to cook Christmas dinner next week, be sure to check out my top three tips. These will not only save you money, but you control the quality of ingredients.

Tip #1:Whipped Cream for your pies

If you are making a pie for next week’s Christmas dinner, please use homemade whipped cream. You don’t want to know what goes into Cool Whip. It is so simple…there is no excuse not to make your own. All you need is heavy whipping cream and a few tablespoons of sugar, beat with a hand mixer for 3-5 minutes until stiff peaks form (don’t overbeat!!!) and that’s it!!!

Tip #2: Cranberry sauce

Serving cranberry sauce at your Christmas dinner next week? Please make your own cranberry sauce, instead of using store-bought. To me, the canned “cranberry sauce” is not even a real sauce. MAKE YOUR OWN, it’s so easy! Place cranberries (10 oz bag) in a sauce pot, add 1 cup of water, 3/4 cup of sugar, bring to a boil, simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened….there is nothing to it and you control the quality of the ingredients!!!!

Tip #3: Roasting meats

If you are roasting turkey, chicken, or any kind of meat, be sure to let it rest before cutting into it. Turkey should be left to rest for at least 45 minutes. Otherwise, the only piece of meat that will be moist is the first one you cut off. Let the meat (chicken, pork chops, etc.) rest for at least 15 minutes allowing the juices to redistribute, the result is a succulent and juicy meat.
